How can we improve endometriosis care in Belgium?
KCE Reports 378C (2024)
In women with endometriosis, tissue similar to the lining of the uterus is also present in other parts of the body. Sometimes the disease causes no symptoms at all; in other cases, it has a considerable impact on various aspects of life, including sexual and social relationships, self-identity and body image, educational and employment opportunities, sport, quality of life. The care for women with endometriosis is still highly fragmented in Belgium, and approaches and expertise also vary greatly between hospitals. KCE is advocating (among others) the creation of accredited endometriosis clinics and specialised centres of expertise, providing multidisciplinary care tailored to each patient.
