Ongoing study - Their caregiving role puts informal caregivers at increased risk of both physical and mental health issues. However, not all of them are aware that the essential help they provide can have such far-reaching consequences for themselves and they tend to focus so much on the needs of their loved ones that they end up neglecting their own health.
The goal of this research project is twofold. First, improve the identification of informal caregivers in Belgium. Second, provide them with support to help them safeguard their own physical and mental health, based both on existing Belgian initiatives and on interventions developed in other countries.
