Planned study - In certain circumstances, an expectant mother with a negative RhD factor can produce antibodies against her baby if the baby is RhD positive. This is why special care is generally taken in such RhD-negative pregnancies. It is now possible to determine the (positive or negative) RhD type of the foetus using a non-invasive test, which can reduce the unnecessary use of preventive treatments.
This study will examine how non-invasive foetal RhD genotyping can be implemented in Belgian routine practice, based on an in-depth international comparison, as well as an analysis of the current Belgian experience of managing Rh-negative pregnancies with and without the non-invasive prenatal RhD test and a budget impact analysis (or a limited cost-consequence analysis).
