Planned study - This study will initially focus on a preparatory stage: determining whether and how socio-economic vulnerability influences hospital costs. Before a funding mechanism reflecting this impact can be developed, the forms of socio-economic vulnerability which are relevant and the mechanisms through which they lead to increased costs for hospitals must be clarified.
Depending on the results of the feasibility study, a subsequent study could then be conducted to develop an appropriate funding mechanism.
