KCE Reports 383C (2024)The ability to access care in a timely manner is an important determinant of the accessibility and performance of the health care system, and a crucial concern for all players in the sector. In Belgium, there is currently no structural system for measuring delays in access to care, also known as ‘waiting times’. These could, however, be a valuable source of information for identifying underserved areas, for helping decision-makers in their supply planning (e.g. setting the number of medical students), etc.
