Ongoing study - A small but increasing number of primary care centres (medische huizen / maisons médicales) receive a needs-adjusted capitation payment per registered patient. The needs or risk adjusters used to allocate resources to the primary care centres (to finance the care provided by GPs, nurses or physiotherapists) that are currently used, insufficiently reflect the health needs of the patient population of these centres.
KCE was commissioned by RIZIV-INAMI to develop a new capitation model to allocate resources to the primary care centres. In the scoping phase of the study, it became clear that essential data to develop such model are missing. We will therefore focus in part 1 of the study on data to be additionally recorded by the primary care centres and to be collected by RIZIV-INAMI. The selection of these data will be based on international practice and the consultation of Belgian stakeholders, such as the federations of the primary care centres.
