The routine peri-operative use of beta-blockers is no longer recommended
In the KCE guidelines on pre-surgical examinations (KCE Reports 5-2004), the peri-operative use of beta-blockers (see page 10) was elaborately discussed.
These recommendations were largely based on primary studies To this date (February 2014), it appears that most of these studies are fraudulent.
KCE therefore questions the peri-operative administration of these agents.
