Acupuncture: State of affairs in Belgium
KCE Reports 153 (2011) More than one Belgian out of 3 consulted at least once in his life an osteopath, a chiropractor, a homeopath or an acupunctor. Within the framework of the continuation of the setting pursuant to the law Stuck, the Minister for the public health asked the federal Center of expert testimony health care (KCE) carry out an inventory of fixtures of these 4 not-conventional medicines with success. In a first report (December 2010) KCE was concentrated on the study of osteopathy and chiropractic. This time, it is with the turn of acupuncture.

The use of whole genome sequencing in clinical practice: challenges and organisational considerations for Belgium
KCE Reports 300 (2018) The sequencing of the entire genome is a new form of genetic testing which, instead of targeting certain isolated genes, decodes all of an individual’s genes all at once (= his or her genome). This technology is advancing rapidly and its costs are decreasing, which suggests that it could soon displace conventional testing. This is not without a certain number of problems which are ethical (because geneticists will be faced with information they did not request) and also organisational and financial in nature.

Cost-effectiveness analysis of HPV vaccination of boys in Belgium
KCE Reports 308 (2019) The vaccine for the human papilloma virus (HPV) which causes cervical cancer was introduced about ten years ago in Belgium, but only girls benefit from it. However, it is now established that this same virus is also involved in other cancers, including throat cancer. The recommendations have thus been reviewed and here, as in most western countries, it is now recommended to vaccinate boys too.

Report on Post-intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) for general practitioners
The post-intensive care syndrome (PICS) is not specific to COVID-19. In the months after discharge, it can occur in more than half of the patients that have stayed in intensive care for a serious pathology. Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, it is very likely that its incidence will increase in the coming months. PICS can cause three types of symptoms: physical (extreme muscle weakness), psychological (anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder), and cognitive (memory loss, loss of verbal fluency, attention and executive functioning disorders).
