Study 2017-13 (HSR) Factors promoting or impeding the uptake and further rollout of e-Health

On going study - The EQ-5D is a generic instrument for measuring the health-related quality of life of patients. It allows to describe and value the health status of patients in a simple manner. It is frequently used in clinical trials and the EQ-5D values are often used for the calculation of Quality Adjusted Life years, a frequently used outcome measure in health economic evaluations. In 2013, the EQ-5D-5L was included in the national health survey. This provided a wealth of information regarding the health-related quality of life of the general public and created immense perspectives for more accurate clinical and policy-preparing research in the Belgian context.

One additional step needs to be taken to benefit maximally from the available data; that is the elicitation of the utility values of the EQ-5D-5L health states from the general public. The objective of the current study is to generate such value set for Belgium by means of 1000 interviews in a representative sample of the general Belgian population.
